La Guerre Des Tuques

The Dog Who Stopped the War

La Guerre Des TuquesFrom Wikipedia.org:

The Dog Who Stopped the War, or in original French La Guerre Des Tuques, is a French Canadian comedy/drama film from Quebec, directed by André Mélançon. The film is the 1st in the Tales for All (Contes Pour Tous) series of children's movies created by Les Productions la Fête.

The film involves a huge snowball fight between the children of a village who split into two rival gangs, one defending a snow castle, the other attacking it. The snowball fight turns into a practical war, until an incident occurs and part of the snow castle crumbles, exactly where one of the children's pet dog was resting during their folly, instantly killing it, and ending the war.

The song at the end of the movie is performed by Nathalie Simard.

An iconic line, "La guerre, la guerre, c'est pas une raison pour se faire mal!" (War, war, it's no reason to get hurt!) became a popular slogan against the Iraq war in 2003.
